Here’s What’s On My Heart

People these days—
They're upside down backwards
Inside out doubled over twisted in half
And folded back in
And I am filled with anxieties
I never even asked for.
I can't be honest without getting ridiculed.

I let them in they bail out I'm alone.
One thing I've learned in life is that
No matter what happens, I'm always going to be me
And I always have been from the start
So stay awhile and listen close cuz
Here's what's on my heart:

Maybe some are waiting,
So busy waiting,
They forget what indescribable beauty
Is right there in front of them.
But I can't bring it up without
Being pelted with glances, like I'm a weirdo.
People ask me if I'm alright—
I am just speaking what's on my mind—my heart—
Then they misunderstand, so I just retreat inside.
