Pens For Daggers

Stab your pen into me.
Make me bleed ink—
These words I have spoken,
Make them indelible.

Because it's much too easy
To speak what you mean
But not mean what you speak
To produce words with impact
Then whisk them away a couple months later
And say "I didn't mean that."

I've been burned I've been burned I've been burned,
Please won't you make me bleed?
Please won't you make that lethal injection—
Cure me of misdirection?
I'm broken I'm broken we're broken—
Please won't you make me bleed?
Cure the numbness?

Innocence befallen to complacency—
Liberate the integrity.
Awaken the beast, stir the deeps
Always, always say what you mean.
Mean what you say.
Just don't make promises you can't keep.

So stab your pen into me.
Make me bleed ink—
Take my heart from the sink
Stitch it to your sleeve.

Promise me, oh promise me
This isn't a promise we can't keep.
No jealousy, no infidelity.
Credibility, serenity, trysts we keep—
Lack of sound, rampant paranoia, lack of sleep.

So stab your pen into me.
Make me bleed ink—
These words I have spoken,
May they never be broken.
Make them indelible,
Scars on a battlefield—
Sprinkled with ash and crimson blood.

Stab your pen into me, stab,
Stab it deep.
Run the lengths of my veins, rip me open
Rip me raw. Infect me, be my I.V.
Don't you ever leave my bloodstream.

Stab your pen into me.
These words I have spoken,
Make them indelible.
Make me bleed ink.
