Red Leaves
Glowing, glowing
Rubies so thin
Frail like paper attached
By a thread
Fastened tight enough to let go
If the winds are strong enough
To take you.
Only a couple weeks
And your beauty is no longer
Behold,
Fallen in heaps to the soil—
A veil of rouge on the ground
Raked into bags
Trodden by snow.
Oh, to always admire your
Ethereal scarlet glow.
